Flu-got u?

Flu-got u?

Do u remember years ago when the flu lasted 24 hours, at the most 72 hours? Nowadays it seems to last 1 to 3 weeks... If you work or have kids that r in school, or your kids playmates go 2 school then u/your kids are more likely 2 get sick and more often. Interested in learning how to boost your immune system? Click here for more info. This is the product that our family takes and we don't get sick as much and if we do get sick we double up on the dosage (or 1 in the morning + 1 at night) and we get better faster than the people around us that don't take this product. That's why it's our #1 selling product.

How would like to open your door with your index finger?

No I'm not kidding, I stumbled on this website that sells Finger print Locking mechanism. Talking about awesomeness. I remember couple years ago one of my friend bought a remote lock that can be open from inside and out with a remote but this is way cooler (ice) :) however I don't think it's the same company, although the company Axxis Biometrics has all the security products you need. From keyless entry to Finger printing entry.

This is a must for home buyers and corporates, I say this co'z I'm all about security and if you're a skeptic individual well what I can say to you is check your locks and door again. You might say why would I need this Junk? and I say you don't, but you look so freaking cool, and o yea it will raise your property value. C'mon you will have a 21st century technology! right on the door, so still have cassette tapes and VHS..lol, well I don't know about that your on your own there. Now read this, this will replace metals keys, you know that little things that make noise.
the website says that you can program people to have access to it, I say heck ya, I have 5 kids and beats having them keys around their neck. lol I remember those days.

Key makers and will be put out of business in the future (near future). remember when you have to get new keys and you go to all the hassle getting keys made , well that my friend will be gone like VHS, it will be thing in the past. ok skeptics I know hat you thinking "what about if someone cut off your finger?" ,, ok what about if someone punch you right in the face and steal your keys? .. bottom line is you can't stop this, this is future Baby! this is the bus and I hope you ride 'em.

Home schooling is sweeping America!

Home schooling is sweeping America!

We are a blessed nation, to be able to homeschool our kids, but people are trying to scare homeschooling parents into thinking they're incompetent teachers, it's cruel/illegal for homeschooling their children.

And Home School Heartbeat is there to speak to the needs of home schooling
parents.
Produced by Home School Legal Defense Association, Home School Heartbeat is
an informative two-minute daily radio program which draws upon HSLDA’s
considerable involvement and front line experience in the home schooling
movement.
Home School Heartbeat began broadcasting in May of 1991 and is
currently airing on over 600 affiliates nationwide. Programs address a wide
variety of topics—educational, legal and spiritual—all of which are of interest
to any parent, whether they have made the decision to home school or are
considering home education for their children.
By choosing to air Home
School Heartbeat, your local stations can become a fundamental link in the
advocacy network for home schooling.

What's in DNA

What's in DNA

I watched a movie about cloning with the kids; our 9-year old was asking what is DNA.
DNA...

...genetic code
...genetic profile
...gene function
Want to know how to detect what's in your DNA and how it's related to your health? Click here.

DNA=
deoxyribonucleic acid, is the hereditary material in humans and almost all other
organisms. Nearly every cell in a person’s body has the same DNA. Most DNA is
located in the cell nucleus (where it is called nuclear DNA), but a small amount
of DNA can also be found in the mitochondria (where it is called mitochondrial DNA or mtDNA).

Drawing Optical Illusions

Drawing Optical Illusions

Yesterday we watched Reading Rainbow on PBS. It was about drawing pictures with optical illusions. The kids and I learned some helpful tips.

Seeing is not always believing, especially when you’re looking at an optical illusion.
PROGRAM SUMMARY:
A magical tale of optical illusions, in which objects seem to shift color and size
while images appear and disappear.
Seeing is not always believing, especially when you are looking at an optical
illusion. Join LeVar as he introduces the audience to a talented trompe l’oeil
painter who specializes in art that tricks the eye, shows how special effects
are created for the camera, and teases viewers with samples of optical illusion
camouflage found in nature.

Not So Sweet Oatmeal Coconut Cookies

Not So Sweet Oatmeal Coconut Cookies

So as a homeschooling mom, I enjoy reading other blogs about how to cook different things (mostly baked goods, but stews, soups, homemade pizza, etc would be nice, too).

Here is my recipe for Not So Sweet Oatmeal Coconut Cookies.

Not So Sweet Coconut Oatmeal Cookies

DIRECTIONS
1 cup butter (melted)-If you don't have butter on hand or it's not in your budget you can use margarine, shortening, or cooking oil.
1/2 cup brown sugar, firmly packed
1/2 cup granulated sugar
2 eggs
2 teaspoons vanilla
2 cups sifted all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon baking powder
3 cup rolled oats, quick
2 cups coconut

PREPARATION:

Cream butter (or margarine, cooking oil, or shortening) add sugar slowly and beat until light and fluffy. Add eggs and vanilla. Beat well. Sift together flour, salt, soda and baking powder; add (stir in) in 4 parts. Mix in oats and coconut. This may be a cookie dough that you need to make a ball in your hands, by squeezing firmly.. (if u want e-z sqeezing try 2 cups of Oatmeal, instead of 3). Kids love to help with this cookie recipe. Place unto greased baking sheets. You can also make these cookies into bars by simply pouring the recipe into a cake pan (the smaller the pan the thicker the bars are).

Bake in moderate oven, about 375° for 12 to 15 minutes, or until golden brown.
Makes about 4 dozen oatmeal cookies. My husband doesn't like things that are very sweet and this is his favorite cookie. I have heard such good comments on these cookies.
If you run out of brown sugar there is a way to substitute. You can add about a tablespoon and a half of molasses to a cup of white sugar for the same result. If you object to the molasses, you can also add about the same amount of dark karo syrup or maple syrup to one cup of white sugar. May the Lord Jesus Christ Bless you all. Amen. Hallelujiah.

New Year, New Semester?

New Year, New Semester?

It's a New Year 2009, and with the Lord Jesus Christ's help, I've been enjoying sitting with the kids and teaching them. Last semester, with the busy ness of finishing our house to put it on the market, trying to keep the house clean, the Christmas season and shopping... our kids had a lot of hands on...going to the stores: learning how to shop. Also, sometimes they learned organizational skills, by cleaning their room (not everyday, but once in a while we counted that), I would assign them Handwriting in their handwriting book(s), they also would be assigned Spelling from their spelling in their workbook(s), but for Math they would have to make up their own problems (write them down, and work them out). I enjoy(ed) having them do school on their own, sometimes, but now I enjoy be able to sit down with them, like before we put our house up for sale.

    Tagalog

    Taglaog

When it comes to keeping New Year's Resolutions it seems to make sense that you need to take it one day at a time. Make a target, aim, shoot, score... Well, something like that.

I have procastinated in learning Tagalog, easily discouraged sometimes. Well, my husband taught me how to pronounce the alphabet and that's a start (It's not as complicated as English). Praise the Lord Jesus Christ! Hallelujiah. Amen.

Here's some of what we learned today:
    Kaibigan-Hey friend!
    Kamusta kana? How are you?
    Mabuti naman, salamat.-I'm fine, thanks.
    At ikaw?-Any you?

Anong horas na?-What time is it?
Alas dalawa y medya na ng (nang) tanghali.-It's 2:30 in the afternoon

What I've committed unto the Lord Jesus Christ: I would like to take time, whether it's once a month or what and play games with our kids.
